A behind the scenes video – Lake George, NY family photographer

November 30, 2015 | Leave a Comment

Ever wondered what it was like to have a custom portrait session with Brayton Photography?

Here’s a behind the scenes video made for us by Cameron from Espience Films. We are so excited to share this peak into our lives, our hearts, our business! We give the what, why’s, and how’s of a custom photography session from a local boutique photography studio.

We talk about our session premiere’s and how we go into peoples homes to help them decorate. We talk about why it’s so important to remember the moments and how we turn that into art that is unique to you and your family. Grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy! (okay, it’s only a couple minutes but popcorn is yummy especially with coconut oil!)

Oh my…we had way too much fun that morning! Piper’s parents where a Brayton Photography Bride and Groom several years ago now. What a joy to be a part of things as Piper grows! How big is Piper?!! That, and showing us her shoes never failed to make her happy! I haven’t seen this girl since her newborn session just about and it was so amazing to see how much she has grown and how much personality she has! Then there was that moment when she just sat in her cake. I almost missed the shot because I was busting up laughing so hard…but don’t worry I got it! Enjoy this sneak peek Mommy and Daddy!! Thank you to Jordan Weinberger of Bake by Jordan for her gorgeous cake.Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-6695Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-2 Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-6435 Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-6451 Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-6482 Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-6731

Sneak Peak – Family Traditions – Lake George, NY Family Photographer

November 16, 2015 | Leave a Comment

BrisbinSneakCollagePhotographing other photographers is one of the best things. They get it and it can be so fun. Even better when she is a dear friend. This year we even went shopping together to celebrate some things in her life and document the incredible woman that she is, how far she’s come, and where she’s going! We were able to capture some images at a place that means the world to them and that will forever hold some of the dearest memories.

Hope you love them Erin!Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-4880Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-4862Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-4867Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-4898 Lake-George-NY-Family-Photographer-4925

#endalz – Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Glens Falls, NY 2015

November 14, 2015 | Leave a Comment

EndAlz2015-collageI was asked if I could help out and document this years Walk to End Alzheimer’s. I was very happy to be able to volunteer my time. My Grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s and it is currently affecting my other Grandmother as well. This is a cause very close to my heart. I was surrounded by loving and caring people. People that were working hard to do all they could for themselves, and their loved ones as well as all those who suffer the pain of this disease. What a blessing and an honor to have been a part of this day. It was freezing but it was a gorgeous day at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The infamous Adirondack fall color was pretty much at peak and the sun was shining in more ways than one!

Check out the full gallery of the days events here!

Feature Friday – One on 1 Design – Adirondack and Lake George, NY Screen printer

November 13, 2015 | Leave a Comment

One on 1 - Happy Camper-BlogCollage

It’s Feature Friday! Once a month we choose a favortie local business to feature on our website. We want our customers and clients to know the businesses that we have come to know and love! Today we are featuring one of the most amazing small local businesses we have in the Capital and Adirondack Regions of New York.

I met Rick and Lois Melito at a vendor fair held at the Glen at Highland Meadows in Queensbury, NY. I love vendor fairs because of the chance to chat with all the people! Get me talking and I’m a happy girl! As I took a few minutes to walk around the other vendors booths I was drawn to Rick’s work. I asked him lots of questions and learned all about what he does and why he’s different. Rick is not just a shirt maker. He is a screen printer. He prints the shirts by hand and most importantly he is an artist first and foremost. Rick designs all the shirts he makes.

His beautiful wife Lois helps him and they travel around selling their art at art shows around the area. A lot of his work is focused on the Adirondacks. He has a great love for this region. He has a great love for his art. He has a great love for people. Rick and Lois surround themselves with some of the most amazing people. When you’re friend’s with the Melito’s you are FAMILY. They have shown that to us time and time again. What a blessing these two are in our lives!

Rick wanted some new photos for his website a few years ago. So we got together at my in-laws farm and placed the shirts all over the place taking pictures with different backgrounds to showcase his art. Since then we have added models!! We have done 3-4 shoots with models. They are always a blast!

So I present to you One on 1 Design, the art of Rick Melito, the Happy Camper, and the great One on 1 Design family! Check out their website as well!

Goodbye old friend

woody 005
This may seem a little bit like a silly thing. It’s not to me. I found out yesterday that a Sea Lion named Woody passed away. Woody was born in captivity and brought to the Alaska Sea Life Center when he was 5 years old. He died at 22 is which is  much older then most Sea Lions in the wild.

A little background. I grew up in Seward, Alaska. I remember my Dad bringing home brochures about the proposed Sea Life Center. I remember being so excited at the prospect of such an amazing place being in my tiny little town. As I grew and watched the Sea Life Center become a reality I slowly fell in love with the place. As a teenager I worked on tour boats taking visitors to see the glaciers, whales, puffin, sea lions and so much more. Every day I grew more and more in love with the animals, the place, and the enormous beauty of it all. I learned about the animals and was so grateful for the Sea Life Center. Not only is it a super cool place to say the least but the research and rehabilitation they do there is incredible.

I remember when Woody came to Seward. It was fun a big event (at least to me). I must have been 16 ish. I was such a sentimental lover of the animals and especially that guy. I don’t know what it was. I could never explain. In my photography class in high school my Jr. year we were given an assignment to make an album (CD) cover. I photographed Woody swimming and used that as my B&W image for my “band”.

As a Senior in high school I volunteered at the Sea Life Center. I got to wear these incredibly atrocious rain boots and rain gear and help clean the Bird actuary and even got to feed the puffins! I don’t know how many high schoolers would volunteer and be so excited about something like that but I loved it!

Now that I live in Upstate New York near Lake George I don’t get back to Seward often enough. But these things were a part of my growing up, a part of me, a part of who I became. I’m trying not to be silly but I wish I could have seen Woody one last time. I will miss you.

Here is a link to an article about Woody and his passing.

And what would a post be without pictures. I’m no wildlife or nature photographer and these are from a very long time ago but these are a few of my favorite things!

Fall Family Session with the M family – Family Photographer, Lake George, NY

November 7, 2015 | Leave a Comment

A new baby is like the beginning of all things-wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.
— Eda J. Le Shan

I shouldn’t be surprised or amazed at how beautiful this little girl is! What a joy to have been able to photograph their wedding and now their little family! This family is such a pleasure. James is always so kind and Abby so composed and fun! What a sweet little baby even when she was exhausted! We had this crazy warm day that we weren’t expecting and had to find a place to get out of the warm sun but oh what beautiful light it was! We surely can’t complain about warm sun in November! Enjoy your sneak peak!
