Downtown Charleston High School Senior

October 26, 2017 | Leave a Comment

downtown Charleston

I was so excited when I learned that Ashley wanted to walk around downtown Charleston, SC for her session. Ashley is a bright and talented High School Senior. I was able to not only spend one evening walking the most gorgeous streets of downtown Charleston with her but I was also able to watch her cheer another night. Ashley also plays soccer! She is multi-talented and so much fun! We talked and walked. We stopped for a few pictures every time we found something we loved. We stopped a lot!! Can you believe this girl also did her own hair and makeup?! Enjoy this sneak peek!

Meet Liam – South Carolina

October 24, 2017 | Leave a Comment

South Carolina family photographer

Liam’s sister had already had her Senior Photos taken so it was Liam’s turn to be in the spotlight. Liam is an active, active, active 7 year old boy. Liam has some special needs so his mother and I talked about how we could make this photo shoot fun for him without it getting too overwhelming. We were so lucky to have Mepkin Abbey almost all to ourselves on a gorgeous Saturday morning! It gave Liam the chance to run around and just be him! Getting him in focus really tested my skills! He shot me with a nerf gun, ran everywhere and anywhere, and rode his 4-wheeler down some pretty good steps (okay so actually Mom had to carry the atv down) 🙂 Boy did we have fun! I was so lucky to have a mom and dad that were totally relaxed and willing to just let a little boy be a little boy and I got to capture him in this moment in time!

Wedding at the Mouzon House – Saratoga, NY

October 13, 2017 | Leave a Comment

The Mouzon house is a farm to table restaurant located in the heart of Saratoga Springs in Upstate New York. It is the such a charming place and was the perfect wedding venue for these two! Carol is from the city. Matt is from the country. Boy moves to the city. Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. The rest is history.

Matt and Daniel actually grew up together. We met Carol a few years ago while photographing a wedding for a couple other friends of theirs. She is kind and bright and laughs so very readily! The bonus is her smile and laugh are beautiful and highly contagious! While bowling with a group of us a few months ago she didn’t even hate me for being the worst bowler EVER. And I only got worse as the night wore on!

Everything about the items Carol picked for her wedding were unique and special. Her flowers were wooden/recycled. Her and Matt’s bands were made by Tiny Sparkle Studio. They are made from recycled gold, melted down and redesigned into something beautiful. Carol made her shoes her something blue and her veil, her something borrowed! Her dress came from The Bridal Garden. “The Bridal Garden is not only a bridal boutique, but also a not-for-profit charitable organization whose proceeds benefit education for disadvantaged children.” (from their website). How amazing is that?! The dresses come from off the runway and other places, from top designers. They are donated and then used to benefit an amazing cause!

Thank you to the amazing Raji Arora of Rang Artistry for bridal and bridal party makeup as well as Bina Kurani for the gorgeous hair artistry! These ladies came Upstate from the city and I think it was well worth the trip, don’t you?!

Friends and family from Upstate in the country to downstate in the city all came together at the Mouzon House to watch and celebrate the marriage of Matt & Carol. The day had been threatening rain all week but the sky’s parted just in time for Matt and Carol’s first look. We had the slightest few rain drops and that was it! Matt proposed to Carol in Congress Park, in the pouring rain, so they chose to make their first look that much more special by having it in the same location. Luckily Mother Nature decided not to repeat her gift of rain!

After the first look and before the ceremony there was a pre-cocktail hour! How cool is that?! Matt and Carol wanted their arriving guests to be able to come, sit back, and relax! This image was described as EPIC. Which is quite perfect because that’s what we were going for, I think the clouds were in on it, and therefore we nailed it!

This is what happens when a car is parked right behind the ceremony aisle and you have the most amazing friends and family…I asked the guests if the SUV belonged to any of them. When no one responded, I sadly realized we wouldn’t be able to get it moved in time and so it would be in all the photos of the bride walking down the aisle! But then all the guests standing in the back moved to block the car so that it wouldn’t distract from the bride and groom’s photos! I seriously loved these people!

It just got more beautiful as the day progressed. As you can see from the ceremony pictures we had gorgeous light and the Mouzon House Restaraunt was the perfect ceremony backdrop.

The party was incredible. Dinner was passed plates made at the Mouzon House. The staff was so kind and so professional. They blew me away!

The night was accompanied by the Hot Club of Saratoga, a local jazz band. The dance floor was DJ’d by a friend of the family.

Carol and Matt, had what I think is the best tasting wedding cake I have ever had! And you’ll never guess who made it?! The mother of the Groom! Michelle Martindale is a very talented baker in the Glens Falls, NY region. If you need a wedding cake be sure to look her up!The Mouzon House Restaurant

Sera – Mepkin Abbey High School Senior Shoot

October 12, 2017 | Leave a Comment

mepkin abbey high school senior shootI was able to travel to South Carolina for some southern fall photo shoots. I always love to meet the people that I photograph before the day of their session but that wasn’t possible in this case. I spoke with Sera’s mom and we talked back and forth. Then Sera sent me a Pinterest Board and we coordinated outfit ideas. I had so much fun getting to know her and her style! Sera’s look was very comfy, down to earth, and super cute! I got so excited to meet Sera and the session we had together at the Mepkin Abbey monastery was incredible! We had gorgeous weather that equated to beautiful light! I am always amazed and delighted by the history and grandeur in South Carolina. I mean these trees!!! Sera was so much fun! She talked and joked and laughed with me. She smiled her beautiful smile and was up for just about anything! She braved some pretty aggressive bugs to get the perfect shot! Enjoy her sneak peek!! If you’d like to see more about Mepkin Abbey you can check them out here.

Hot Air Balloons Engagement Session

October 11, 2017 | Leave a Comment

hot air balloon engagement sessionWhen Ashley contacted me wondering if we could take their engagement pictures at the Adirondack Balloon Festival, I knew we had to make it happen! The hot air balloons are so gorgeous and so much fun! It was also a great way to get Ashley and Drea’s son involved. Perfect combo! With the unseasonably warm weather we decided to shoot for a morning take off at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. Luckily it was cool enough that the already planned outfits would still work. This amazing family got up, found out they had no hot water, and still made it for a sunrise engagement session as the hot air balloons took off! Aaaamazing! We walked a lot to find the right spot but luckily between that and the hot chocolate everyone was able to warm up. No one’s lips were purple for any pictures and the smiles we captured are priceless! We cannot wait for their wedding next year! To find out more about the hot air balloon festival right in our own backyard check out the Adirondack Balloon Festival website here!
