This is one of those sessions where I just don’t know where to start. I traveled to Alaska for many different reasons. One of these was to photograph a few families. This was the third time that I photographed this family and the first time that Dan was able to come with me. He had seen past session photos. He had heard me tell stories. This time he got to meet them! When the little boy cries because you are leaving (well because Dan was leaving) and when you are editing the images you laugh and awww your whole way through, that’s when you remember…really remember why you do what you do. This family has brought me so much joy and in return I have been able to give them the precious gift of memories that will never disappear or even fade. It was an absolute joy to introduce them to Dan and to see their new home and meet all their furry friends! I didn’t want to leave and I can’t thank them enough for welcoming us!
Laura was my middle school volleyball coach – her daughters in school around the same time as me. I learned so much from her about volleyball, working hard, and life in general. She was always there and supportive. What a treasure it was to meet her grandkids and photograph them. How gorgeous is this backdrop? Bear Lake in the Seward Alaska area is incredible! When I pictured photographing families in Seward this is exactly the background I was hoping for. Wow! I think I should do travel sessions in Alaska more often! Enjoy this sneak peak guys!
Oh my goodness! I had so much fun photographing families in Seward, Alaska while we were there this summer! It was a dream to go to my hometown and photograph some of the kids of some of my favorite people! I graduated with several of the Mom’s and Dad’s of these gorgeous kids. We had so much fun! This grandchildren session couldn’t have been more perfect! You never know what weather you are going to get in Seward and boy did we luck out. Seward is gorgeous even on a rainy day but on a sunny day it is literatly the most beautiful place on earth! Conants, what a joy it was to come to Alaska and photograph your family. That view is unbelievable and your children are amazing.
I’ll try not to get too personal here…
My big brother. Life has taken us to the far sides of the country. We try to keep in touch and thank goodness for social media! Life is busy. Life is crazy. Oh how I wish life got me to Oregon more often! When I found out that my brother was dating this amazing woman all I wanted to know was how can I meet her and what can I do to help?! They eloped to Hawaii and had the most gorgeous, personal wedding! I am so thrilled for them but as a traveling wedding and family photographer I ached to photograph this incredible event in their lives! Can you blame me?!
While we were all in Alaska together I was able to meet his gorgeous bride and see my nieces and nephews. We took some time away from all the wonderful chaos of a family reunion/Alaska vacation and headed to Kincaid Park for some family photo time. The light couldn’t have been more amazing! I love photographing families. I love the time it gives me to see family dynamics. I love to study people’s personality and what makes them, well…them. This was a chance to see how much Bria loves her accessories. This was a chance to experience the incredible sense of humor that Beth has. This was a chance to see Brock and Kelsie lovingly harass each other and to remember that they got it from their father ;). This was a chance to learn that for his senior pictures Brock wants something completely un-ordinary. This was a chance for me to capture this family in a beautiful setting at a time in their lives that they always want to remember and look back on.
Enjoy this sneak peak for now! More to come!
Samantha and I started texting back and forth in January. We chatted and met and planned her family’s session. She knew the perfect location and her sense of style is incredible. Of course the difficult thing with dreaming and planning out so far is you never know how kids will change. Will they still be napping, or will they at least nap that day? This family is AAAAmazing! Mom and Dad kept their cool during their family session at Wiawaka house in Lake George, NY no matter what the kids threw at them.
Their little girl is gorgeous but looking at her Mamma, I wasn’t surprised! Her big brother gave us all a run for our money and boy did we run! My favorite part were his dance moves!! We danced, and played with sticks. We tickled and poked, and became monkeys. We learned history and rolled down a grass hill!! What more could a little boy or photographer want?!!
Porcell family I hope you love your little sneak peak!!
She was the Maid of Honor at a wedding we photographed a couple years ago. I remembered her as the girl who always laughed! When she reached out to me about her own wedding I was giddy! I knew it would be a blast! Laura and Josh were married at Jimbo’s Club at the Point in Brant Lake, NY. What a location and amazing lake venue! Josh and Laura picked a celebration that was an all inclusive weekend. For friends and family it was a weekend to come together and celebrate the joining of two lives–two families. Come, stay, play, celebrate, and laugh with us in Upstate New York. I think that sums up the wedding weekend, the wedding, and Josh and Laura.
Laura’s laugh is infectious and her smile exquisite! She is kind, funny, and loyal. When it was finally time to get her dress on Laura began to giggle. She smiled and laughed and bounced on her toes. She wasn’t nervous, she was ecstatic and thrilled to be marrying the love of her life! After getting the details of Laura’s amazing Essence of Australia dress from Lily Saratoga and her incredible flowers from family friend Mark Hayward we went to check on the guys. You never know exactly what you’ll find in the bachelor pad prep area. What we found was a supportive group of friends and a groom with the exact same excitement as his bride!
The day was perfect and these two couldn’t be more amazing. All day long I was floored by the incredible family and friends surrounding and supporting this new little family. These two have a foundation built for a lifetime of joy and happiness! At the risk of a corny analogy, I can’t wait to see what house they will build on this foundation!

I am still swooning over this Essence of Australia dress from Lily Saratoga.
Love the smile and genuine excitement on Josh in these! Ummm, sometimes I can’t handle the first look! I had to remind myself NOT to let Josh turn around early! Perfect first look! The best families ever! They were so kind, so fun, and so supportive all day! I didn’t hear complaining or fighting! They just loved and enjoyed celebrating together! This was the FIRST suit EVER for Josh’s Dad so we had to document it! Can we talk about these benches? I rustic wedding dream! Girls of all ages enjoying the incredible flowers!
Oh Jimbo’s! Those steps!! This cake was as delicious as it looks. Just in case you were wondering! A past Brayton Photography bride and groom! We love seeing our couples after the wedding day and watching their love keep growing! There really isn’t any way to go wrong with a reception led by The Accents Band! They are aaaamazing!
This celebration could not have been possible without the incredible creative team here in Upstate New York

Say hello to the winner of the Mother’s Day Giveaway! When I told Christine she had won and that she needed to pick who her guest would be she immediately thought of her husband! I absolutely LOVED this idea! That to me says that she married her best friend and made a pretty amazing choice! Soon they are celebrating their 10 year wedding anniversary so we turned the winnings into an anniversary celebration! Their was a little rain right during our photoshoot but it didn’t even phase these two. They were so effortless together and had us laughing through the whole session. And can we talk about those smiles and eyes?! What a pleasure it was to meet Christine and Dominick and get to be a part of celebrating their 10 year anniversary!
There were some hiccups as this was the first big Mother’s Day Giveaway we have done but Christine was so gracious and kind! I can’t thank her enough for being our giveaway guinea pig! I have so many ideas and can hardly wait for next year’s Mother’s Day Giveaway!

Not trash the dress is the traditional sense of the word but a more modern sense.
The wedding day is an amazing celebration of the joining of two lives and families. I adore what it is and what it does. When I look back, however, I only have one wish. I wish that I had worn my dress just ONE more time! We’re calling this a “Wear the Dress one more time” session!
Crystal has become so near and dear to my heart. I have known her and watched her as she’s overcome difficulties and trials and have watched her succeed with sparkle and glamour! She found this amazing boy who makes her laugh, balances her, and supports her. Their engagement session was FREEZING. Their wedding was unbelievably beautiful and also…FREEZING! I knew we had to shoot her in this dress one more time.
This day couldn’t have been more perfect. Jon and Crystal came and my heart swelled as I saw her relax into him, smile, laugh and just be HER. We found some pink trees at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs to match Crystal’s pink dress and just spent some time walking around campus in the sun. This is a brief sneak peak into the gorgeous images we created in this modern “Trash the dress” session.
If you missed the post from their New Year’s Eve wedding you can find it here!
