The Mouzon house is a farm to table restaurant located in the heart of Saratoga Springs in Upstate New York. It is the such a charming place and was the perfect wedding venue for these two! Carol is from the city. Matt is from the country. Boy moves to the city. Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. The rest is history.
Matt and Daniel actually grew up together. We met Carol a few years ago while photographing a wedding for a couple other friends of theirs. She is kind and bright and laughs so very readily! The bonus is her smile and laugh are beautiful and highly contagious! While bowling with a group of us a few months ago she didn’t even hate me for being the worst bowler EVER. And I only got worse as the night wore on!
Everything about the items Carol picked for her wedding were unique and special. Her flowers were wooden/recycled. Her and Matt’s bands were made by Tiny Sparkle Studio. They are made from recycled gold, melted down and redesigned into something beautiful. Carol made her shoes her something blue and her veil, her something borrowed! Her dress came from The Bridal Garden. “The Bridal Garden is not only a bridal boutique, but also a not-for-profit charitable organization whose proceeds benefit education for disadvantaged children.” (from their website). How amazing is that?! The dresses come from off the runway and other places, from top designers. They are donated and then used to benefit an amazing cause!
Thank you to the amazing Raji Arora of Rang Artistry for bridal and bridal party makeup as well as Bina Kurani for the gorgeous hair artistry! These ladies came Upstate from the city and I think it was well worth the trip, don’t you?!
Friends and family from Upstate in the country to downstate in the city all came together at the Mouzon House to watch and celebrate the marriage of Matt & Carol. The day had been threatening rain all week but the sky’s parted just in time for Matt and Carol’s first look. We had the slightest few rain drops and that was it! Matt proposed to Carol in Congress Park, in the pouring rain, so they chose to make their first look that much more special by having it in the same location. Luckily Mother Nature decided not to repeat her gift of rain!
After the first look and before the ceremony there was a pre-cocktail hour! How cool is that?! Matt and Carol wanted their arriving guests to be able to come, sit back, and relax! This image was described as EPIC. Which is quite perfect because that’s what we were going for, I think the clouds were in on it, and therefore we nailed it!
This is what happens when a car is parked right behind the ceremony aisle and you have the most amazing friends and family…I asked the guests if the SUV belonged to any of them. When no one responded, I sadly realized we wouldn’t be able to get it moved in time and so it would be in all the photos of the bride walking down the aisle! But then all the guests standing in the back moved to block the car so that it wouldn’t distract from the bride and groom’s photos! I seriously loved these people!
It just got more beautiful as the day progressed. As you can see from the ceremony pictures we had gorgeous light and the Mouzon House Restaraunt was the perfect ceremony backdrop.
The party was incredible. Dinner was passed plates made at the Mouzon House. The staff was so kind and so professional. They blew me away!
The night was accompanied by the Hot Club of Saratoga, a local jazz band. The dance floor was DJ’d by a friend of the family.
Carol and Matt, had what I think is the best tasting wedding cake I have ever had! And you’ll never guess who made it?! The mother of the Groom! Michelle Martindale is a very talented baker in the Glens Falls, NY region. If you need a wedding cake be sure to look her up!
